Daisy Whitney Interviews the GFC Girl Team in Palo Alto!

On December 15, 2010, Daisy Whitney, author of the Mockingbirds, visited a GFC team of girls in Palo Alto, CA.  This is what she had to say on her blog:

"I visited a team of teen girls in East Palo Alto, Calif. who are working with the charitable organization Girls for a Change to help create and lead social change in their community. I love this organization and am donating a portion of all ongoing proceeds of my book sales from The Mockingbirds to Girls for a Change. If you want to know why I’m so passionate about the world Girls for a Change is doing, just check out my video interview with four teen girls who want to change the world!"

Thanks Daisy for sharing your video, and sharing the inspiration!  And to the girls on this team, thanks for making your voices be heard!

GFC Partners with GroundSpark: Check Out Straightlaced!

Girls For A Change is excited to partner with GroundSpark on a new, cutting edge film and educational campaign about teens, gender and sexuality: Straightlaced - How Gender's Got Us All Tied Up. The film exposes many societal issues that young people are confronting, whether it be girls addressing media messages about culture and body image to boys who are sexually active just to prove they aren't gay. Straightlaced shares brave and intimate stories about young people's struggles and triumphs in dealing with gendered stereotypes.

Through our partnership with Straightlaced Girls For A Change is able to give a 20% discount on purchases of the film and any other GroundSpark Respect For All project films. Straightlaced is an amazing resource to better understand the issues behind gender and sexuality within our communities, ultimately helping all youth to fully and truly express themselves!
